2022 — An extreme heatwave swept western Europe from June through August, making this one of the hottest vintages since 2003 in Bordeaux, Burgundy and Spain. High-concentration wines with lower acidity characterise the flat-site appellations, while altitude zones proved their worth.

Rioja Alta and Ribera del Duero excelled, producing balanced, deeply coloured reds. Right Bank Bordeaux was particularly praised for depth and precision, and the vintage rewards those who sought freshness through careful site selection.
