Domaine Pernot Père et Fils

The domaine starts in 1900, and its origin is not that of a winegrowing family: Pascal Pernot's great-grandfather was chauffeur to the Liégeards, the owners of the château at Brochon, and ended up inheriting some of their vines. Among those parcels was La Croix Violette.

The Liégeards were no ordinary landowners. Stéphen Liégeard was the writer who in 1887 christened the Côte d'Azur — the name was his and it stuck — and who had the château at Brochon built between 1895 and 1899 on an argument hard to argue with: that what Burgundy was missing were the châteaux of the Loire.

Pascal Pernot is the fourth generation and took over in 2018. Some seven hectares around Brochon, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, with most of the work in Gevrey-Chambertin.

Pinot noir fermented with indigenous yeast and aged in barrel.
