Positioned just west of Sancerre in the Central Loire, this AOC shares the essential terroir character — Sauvignon Blanc on silex and limestone — while offering the same aromatic profile at meaningfully lower prices. Expect citrus, white currant, fresh herbs and the mineral lift from flint soils that typifies the Central Loire style, without the premium commanded by its more famous neighbour.

Pinot Noir also thrives on the calcareous soils, producing light, elegant reds in the vein of Sancerre Rouge — pale, red-fruited and with sufficient acidity to serve slightly cool. Menetou-Salon remains a reliable source of genuine value and a less-pressured introduction to Central Loire Sauvignon typicity.
