Learn more about Ribeiro
Considered the historic reference appellation for Galician whites before the rise of Rías Baixas, Ribeiro is set at the confluence of the Avia, Arnoia, and Miño rivers in the province of Ourense. The climate is more continental than the coast, with less rainfall and warmer summers that allow more complete ripening than in the rías.
The whites are produced with Treixadura as the main variety—bringing body and texture—accompanied by Torrontés, Godello, Lado, and Albariño. Blends are frequent and add aromatic complexity. In reds, Sousón stands out, a local variety of deep colour and firm tannins that is recovering ground in the appellation vineyard.
