Learn more about 2021
2021 — Devastating April frosts struck Burgundy, Champagne and parts of Rioja, reducing volumes to historically low levels and marking this as one of the most challenging harvests in a generation. Where grapes survived a cool and uneven summer, the results were remarkable.
Burgundy reds show a classic, taut, nervous style with excellent ageing potential. Spain was uneven overall, but zones spared the frost — particularly in Rioja and Ribera del Duero — delivered focused, fresh wines worth seeking out.
