Positioned on the left bank of the Authion in the Anjou-Touraine sector, Bourgueil produces Cabernet Franc from a mosaic of sand and tuffeau soils that places it stylistically between the lightness of St Nicolas de Bourgueil and the structure of Chinon. Sand parcels yield fruit-forward, early-drinking wines; tuffeau slopes add tannin, mineral grip and the potential to age a decade or more in ripe vintages.

The appellation represents compelling value within the Loire red-wine hierarchy — serious site expression at prices well below more famous French regions. Old vines on tuffeau, often exceeding fifty years, are typically reserved for the most ambitious cuvées.
