2013 — A challenging vintage across many regions: Bordeaux saw late ripening and climatic irregularity, with Cabernet Sauvignon reaching full maturity only at the last moment; Burgundy was heterogeneous. Champagne generally did not declare a vintage year for 2013.
In Spain, Rioja delivered good natural acidity with restrained ripeness — an underestimated vintage that can surprise with bottle age. Rigorous producer selection is key: the best wines show a lean, classical structure with genuine longevity.
