Learn more about La Clape

A coastal limestone massif rising between Narbonne and the Mediterranean, La Clape gained its own AOC status in 2015, distinguished from the broader Languedoc by a saline, marine microclimate unique in the region. The tramontane wind blasts the massif year-round, providing natural vine stress and cooling, while the Mediterranean aspect ensures full ripeness. Soils are predominantly white limestone and clay.

The reds — Mourvèdre and Grenache-dominant — are among the most structured and age-worthy in the Languedoc, with a garrigue-and-brine character unique to this coastal terroir. The whites are equally distinctive: Bourboulenc, a rare local variety, contributes saline, citrus-pith character alongside Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. Both colours reward four to eight years of cellaring from ambitious producers.
