2017 — Devastating April frosts caused historically low volumes in Chablis, Burgundy, the Loire and Champagne; quality was high where crops survived, but scarcity defines the vintage in these regions. Spain was largely spared, making it a good year for Iberian wines.

Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Priorat all yielded solid results, shaped by moderate drought stress that concentrated the fruit. A vintage where Spanish wines offer both value and quality often absent from their French counterparts of the same year.
