Les Héritiers Saint Genys

Patrice du Jeu was a restaurateur before he was a vigneron. In 2011 he set about recovering abandoned parcels and old vines held by his family, and from that comes the present house, based in Chassagne-Montrachet with vineyards spread between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise.

That same year he bought the Clos Marcilly, in Mercurey. It is no ordinary parcel: it was one of the first five premiers crus recognised in Mercurey in 1943. After improvement and replanting, since 2016 it has been his monopole — he alone may bottle that name.

The clos is entirely enclosed by a stone wall, which shelters it from hard frosts. Seven and a half hectares of enclosure with a little over four planted, between 228 and 240 metres, on clay and limestone, and with its own spring beneath the soil. The vines average around sixty years.
