Elevated from VDQS to full AOC status in 1993, Cheverny produces primarily Sauvignon Blanc whites and Gamay-based reds in the cool Loire heartland east of Blois. Its most singular expression is found in the Cour-Cheverny sub-appellation, reserved exclusively for Romorantin — one of the Loire's rarest indigenous varieties — yielding dry whites of striking mineral tension and exceptional age-worthiness.
