Domaine du Salvard

The estate has been a working farm since 1898. Around 1900 Maurice Delaille bought le Salvard, in the commune of Fougères-sur-Bièvre, modernised it and replanted it with vines. Five generations of Delailles have followed.

The growth is documented and gives a sense of the pace: ten hectares in 1965, thirty in 1993 and more than forty today. Six decades of buying land bit by bit.

The brothers Emmanuel and Thierry Delaille farm it now, with their father Gilbert still lending a hand.

They are on the plains of north-eastern Touraine, on sand, clay and the limestone of the Beauce. The main variety is sauvignon blanc, alongside chardonnay.

The property was once part of the seigneurie of Fougères, whose fortified castle was raised and rebuilt between the eleventh and fourteenth centuries.
