Pascal Pernot, the fourth generation of his family, took over the domaine in Brochon — at the northern tip of the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation — in 2018. "En Champs" is the estate's standout village-level lieu-dit, sitting directly below the Champeaux premier cru on an east-facing limestone slope cooled by air funnelling in from the Combe de Lavaux; Lavalle himself ranked it "Troisième Cuvée" in 1855, the highest grade within the village tier. The domaine farms 7 hectares of 100% Pinot Noir under sustainable viticulture with progressively introduced biodynamic practices, and vines across the estate average around 60 years of age.

Grapes are fully destemmed, fermented with native yeasts over a minimum two-week maceration, and then aged for 18 months in Billon and Rousseau barrels with roughly 20% new oak. True to Pascal's philosophy of crafting what he calls "lace-like wines" — all silky texture and no heavy-handed extraction — the 2022 delivers dark red raspberry, strawberry, violet, and a delicate toasty nuance, wrapped in a supple yet well-structured frame that points to a drinking window of 2026 through 2032.
