Domaine Moreau-Naudet
We let you know when a new wine arrives or drops in price.
The family has been in Chablis since the 17th century. In 1929, Alfred Naudet was behind the delimitation of the Chablis appellations: he helped draw the map that today separates Petit Chablis, Chablis and the crus.
The hyphenated name comes from a marriage: in 1950, Marie Naudet married René Moreau. Roger Moreau arrived at the estate in 1968 and took it over in 1972.
Stéphane Moreau joined in the early nineties, when the house had 7 hectares and made 5,000 bottles a year, and took it to the top of Chablis together with his wife, Virginie. Stéphane died in 2016, and Virginie Moreau has run the estate since then, with the cellar master who worked alongside him.
The Petit Chablis comes from a single 3-hectare plot facing south-west, at 250 metres, on Portlandian limestone with clay and vines of 25 to 50 years. It is 100% Chardonnay, fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts and aged ten months on fine lees, with no oak.
