Domaine La Seigneurie
We let you know when a new wine arrives or drops in price.
Pierre-Louis Foucher founded the domaine in 1969 and his son Alban took over in 2005.
They are in Saumur, with their plots on the highest tuffeau slope of the Saumur Champigny appellation.
There are 20 hectares, certified organic and HVE since 2023, with chenin blanc and cabernet franc spread across Coteaux de Saumur, Crémant de Loire, Saumur and Saumur Champigny.
Les Clos de la Seigneurie comes from two enclosed parcels with vines of seventy-five to eighty years and more, on gravel and sand over a clay base, facing south-southwest. It is 100% cabernet franc.
It is picked by hand in late October. Fully destemmed and warm-macerated for more than thirty days; the malolactic is done in second- and third-fill Bordeaux barrels, and it ages twelve months in oak.
