Domaine Poulleau Michel Père et Fils
We let you know when a new wine arrives or drops in price.
The domaine was founded in 1960. Thierry Poulleau joined in 1983 and since 1996 has run it with his wife Florence: he looks after the technical side and she the commercial one.
There are 8.1 hectares in Volnay, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, more than 90% of it pinot noir, with lutte raisonnée across the whole estate.
The village Volnay is a blend of four lieux-dits — Beau Regard, Paux Bois, Poisots and Echards — from vines averaging around fifty years on limestone and silty soils. Production is held to 3,550 bottles a vintage.
The fruit is fully destemmed and cold-macerated for four to five days; it ferments for about ten days in concrete tanks with daily pump-overs and délestages, and ages around twelve months in barrel with 20% new oak.
