Thierry Poulleau and his wife Florence have managed this small family estate in Volnay since 1996, the third generation of a domaine founded in the 1960s by Michel Poulleau, covering 8.1 hectares of which more than 90% is Pinot Noir. The village Volnay is an assemblage of four lieux-dits — Beau Regard, Paux Bois, Poisots and Echards — with an average vine age of fifty years on limestone and silty soils, producing just 3,550 bottles per vintage; viticulture follows lutte raisonnée principles with ploughing, leaf removal and green harvesting.
In the cellar, the grapes are 100% destemmed and given a 4-to-5-day cold pre-fermentation maceration before fermenting for around ten days in concrete tanks with daily pump-overs and délestages; the wine then ages for approximately twelve months in barrel with 20% new oak. The 2022 vintage delivers bright red cherry, sweet spices and silky tannins — the 2025 Guide Hachette awarded it two stars (Vin remarquable), noting that it opens with "cherry and sweet spices," with a suggested drinking window of 2028 to 2034.
