Domaine Vaudoisey
We let you know when a new wine arrives or drops in price.
The family arrived in Volnay in 1804 and has not moved since. Pierre, the son of the house, is the ninth generation.
Christophe and Laurence Vaudoisey took over in 1985 and today work alongside him across twelve hectares in Volnay, Pommard, Monthélie and Meursault, with parcels in the Mitans, Roncerets, Clos des Chênes and Caillerets premier crus.
In 2009 they built a new winery at the bottom of the village, and the ground they used was a garden inside the Mitans premier cru: they put the cellar on classified land. The house of Christophe's parents, in Volnay, is what serves as the reception room.
They farm in lutte raisonnée, with selective green harvesting and sorting of bunches in the vineyard itself. They destem, and general ageing runs to up to 25% new oak over sixteen to eighteen months.
The Vieilles Vignes is the exception: it comes from village parcels with vines around fifty years old on clay-limestone soils and is aged entirely in tank, never seeing oak. There are 9,000 bottles.
