Domaine Bart

The estate is in Marsannay-la-Côte and works some twenty-two hectares, with classified climats in Fixin, Marsannay and Chambolle-Musigny.

That a Marsannay house should hold parcels in Bonnes-Mares and Chambertin Clos de Bèze has a family explanation: Pierre Bart's grandmother belonged to the same family as Domaine Bruno Clair and inherited part of the vines when that holding was divided. Those grands crus come from there.

Their Les Finottes parcel illustrates well what a monopole is in Burgundy. The family had worked it for a long time, but it did not become a monopole until 2007, when Éric Guyard sold them the small share that was his. A monopole is not inherited whole: it is finished off by buying out the last neighbour.

Les Finottes borders the climats of Les Longeroies and Les Echezots, on deep sandy soil with a good proportion of fine clays.
