This compact right-bank appellation, holding its own AOC status since 1937, represents the lightest and most precocious of the Loire's Cabernet Franc reds. Soils of sand and gravel over tuffeau warm quickly in spring, encouraging early ripening and translating into wines of fresh red fruit, low tannin and soft, approachable structure. Most bottles reward drinking within three to five years.
