Domaine de la Clartière is a family estate rooted in the hills of Anjou, where the Pinet family has been cultivating the vine across four generations since around 1930. Spanning 40 hectares tended by Agnès, Pierrot, Pierre-Antoine, and Edouard Pinet, the domaine sits within the Anjou Noir, where distinctive pebbly schist soils lend mineral tension and depth to white wines. HVE and Terra Vitis certified.

For this Sauvignon Blanc, the Pinets employ a 12-hour skin maceration before fermentation in stainless steel, followed by ageing on fine lees for added roundness — a choice that coaxes greater aromatic complexity and a subtly creamy texture from the grape without straying into orange-wine territory.

Learn more about Domaine de la Clartière

The estate was created in 1905 in Nueil-sur-Layon, in the south of Maine-et-Loire, and the Pinet family has handed it down through four generations.

There is a detail hard to find in other houses: since 1930 four Pierres in a row have headed the vineyard, one after another.

The current one, Pierre-Antoine Pinet, took charge in 2007, and his brother Édouard joined in 2017. Their parents, Agnès and Pierrot, are still in the house, as is their brother Simon.

They grow six varieties and from them make seven different appellations, among them Coteaux du Layon and Cabernet d'Anjou.
