Domaine du Pied Flond has been cultivating vines in Terranjou, in the heart of the Haut-Layon, since 1864, with Franck and Catherine Gourdon now representing the seventh generation of the family across some 25 hectares of sandstone and schist soils; the domaine holds HVE Level 3 certification, the result of more than fifteen years of environmental land management. The Coteaux du Layon appellation, located in Anjou along the southern tributary of the Loire, is dedicated exclusively to sweet Chenin Blanc, its microclimate of morning mists and afternoon sun promoting late harvests and the development of noble rot that gives the wines their characteristic richness and complexity.

Tradition 2023 is a 100% Chenin Blanc harvested at full overripeness, vinified and aged in tank to preserve freshness, with a production of 12,000 bottles. Bright golden yellow in the glass, it offers aromas of exotic and compoted fruits — pineapple, lychee, guava, pear, apricot — alongside candied orange peel, honey, quince, and gentle spice, while the palate is kept lively by the variety's natural acidity, which balances the sweetness and leads to a clean finish of citrus and lemongrass. Awarded two stars in the Guide Hachette des Vins 2025 as a vin remarquable, it is ready to drink now through 2028 and best served between 7 and 10°C.
