Weingut Tesch has been based in Langenlonsheim on the Nahe for eleven generations; Martin Tesch, who holds a degree in microbiology, restructured the estate from 2001–2002 onward, stepping outside the VDP by choice and rejecting all third-party certification while farming without herbicides, insecticides, or mineral fertilisers and harvesting entirely by hand. The Langenlonsheimer Königsschild Einzellage takes its name from the near-parabolic shape of the parcel — "like a king's shield" — and sits at 140–210 metres on a south-southeast-facing slope of 10–30%, sheltered by surrounding forest; its calcareous loess-loam over Tertiary shell limestone with clay is geologically distinct from the Permian red sandstone (Rotliegendes) of Tesch's Karthäuser, and the loose loess structure allows roots to penetrate to around 15 metres depth.

The 2023 Königsschild is a dry (trocken) Riesling at 13% alcohol, with 3.2 g/L residual sugar and 6.7 g/L total acidity; relative to the more structured, spice- and mineral-driven Karthäuser and St. Remigiusberg, Königsschild consistently shows a creamier, more citrus-oriented character, and Stephan Reinhardt described this vintage as "probably the finest Königsschild in Martin Tesch's career." It received 95 points from James Suckling (Stuart Pigott), 94 points from Wine Advocate (Reinhardt), 17/20 from Jancis Robinson, and 92 points from Vinous (Anne Krebiehl MW).
