Weingut Tesch is a Nahe estate with eleven generations of family history in Langenlonsheim, reshaped by Martin Tesch after he took over from his father Hartmut in 2001 and 2002, bringing a background in microbiology to every decision in vineyard and cellar. He works deliberately outside the VDP and rejects certification labels of any kind, yet farms without herbicides, insecticides, or mineral fertilisers and harvests entirely by hand. The Karthäuser is an Einzellage in the village of Laubenheim, named after the Carthusian monks who owned it during the Middle Ages, planted on weathered red Permian sandstone of the Rotliegendes in a southwest-facing amphitheatre bowl, with vines reaching up to fifty years of age.

The 2022 is 100% Riesling, fermented dry over forty days at 12–15°C in stainless steel using a combination of wild and cultured yeasts, with no oak contact, no malolactic fermentation, and a brief rest on the lees before bottling under screwcap at 11.5% alcohol. The severe drought of 2022 arrested full maturation earlier than usual, and Martin Tesch chose not to chaptalize, which produced an unusually low-alcohol wine with a taut, fresh inner tension; residual sugar sits at 5.1 g/L against 7.4 g/L total acidity. The profile is distinctly smoky with grapefruit and wild herbs, and compared to Tesch's St. Remigiusberg or Königsschild cuvées it reads rounder and less austere — rated 95 points by James Suckling, 93 by the Wine Advocate, and 93 by The Fine Wine Review.
