Château de Saint-Pey
We let you know when a new wine arrives or drops in price.
The property dates in part from the sixteenth century and has been in the Saint-Émilion jurisdiction since 1744.
What kept it going was a single family: the Mussets held it for six generations.
In 2011 it was bought by Frédéric Stévenin and Clarence Grosdidier, who completely restructured the vineyard. The winery was renovated in 2020 and in 2022 they began a second one, as well as enlarging the barrel cellar.
They are in Saint-Pey-d'Armens, a few minutes from Saint-Émilion, on the clay-limestone soils typical of the côtes: a sandy surface layer, a loamy middle stratum and clay-limestone subsoil. The vines average thirty to forty years.
The blend is 85% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon. Traditional vinification and twelve to eighteen months in barrel, with 50% new oak.
