André Mathieu 2017 | Châteauneuf-du-Pape
From 9 hectares with limestone, clay-calcareous and silica soils.
Traditional vinification with long maceration and aging for 12 to 14 months in old barrels.
Now that it has been bottled, Mathieu's 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape continues to show superb concentration and intense blackberry, black cherry and licorice notes. It's medium to full-bodied and velvety in texture, with rich tannins lingering on the finish. Give it another year or so to settle down, and drink it over the next decade.
