From 30 hectares of Plateau de Farguerol. 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mounvedre, 3% Cinsault and 2% Counise. Manual harvest, 60% destemmed.
Vinification of grape varieties separately and by plots. I pump 2 times a day. Aged in concrete vats for 18 months. Bottled without clarification and slight filtration on bottling.
In Durieu's tank-aged 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape, a garnet hue presages a more classic style. A blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% other permitted varieties, it offers up gentle leather and ripe cherry notes. Old school without being rustic, it's full-bodied, supple, almost creamy, then long and lush on the finish, showing excellent balance and harmony.
