Two estates: Alluvia in Gualtallary at 1,350 metres above sea level, and Los Indios in El Cepillo at 1,100 metres, with stony and sandy loam soil and high limestone content. 100% Malbec.

Manual harvest. Gentle destemming without breaking the berry. Cold pre-fermentation maceration to preserve the primary aromas, fermentation at low temperatures, and post-fermentation maceration for 15 to 20 days. Aged for 12 months in first, second, and third-use French oak barrels.

Este vino es un 100% Malbec cultivado en dos fincas: Alluvia en Gualtallary a una altitud de 1.350 metros y Los Indios en El Cepillo a 1.100 metros sobre el nivel del mar, con suelo pedregoso y franco-arenoso rico en calcio. La vendimia se realiza manualmente para garantizar la mejor calidad posible.

La elaboración incluye un despalillado suave sin romper los granos, una maceración prefermentativa a baja temperatura para preservar los aromas primarios y una fermentación controlada seguida de una maceración postfermentativa que dura entre 15 y 20 días. El vino se cría durante 12 meses en barricas de roble francés, utilizando tanto primer uso como segundo y tercer uso.

Notas descriptivas: Este Estate Malbec ofrece sabores intensos de frutos negros maduros, con notas sutiles de especias y tostado. Su estructura es robusta pero equilibrada, con un final largo y complejo que refleja la influencia del roble francés.

The project began in 1990, when the Chilean Claro group set out across Argentina looking for the best terroirs. The first estates were bought in 1997 with a condition that was uncommon at the time: to work only their own vines, buying no grapes from third parties. The name was chosen by Ricardo Claro, then owner of Santa Rita, as a nod to the link between the two countries.

The home base is Finca El Alto, in Luján de Cuyo, and from there the winery spread into the terroirs that interested it: Gualtallary, Ugarteche, San Carlos. In the Uco Valley it has three vineyards —Alluvia in Gualtallary, Los Cerezos in the Cordón del Plata and Los Indios in Cordón El Cepillo— which is where the estate wines come from.

What sets the house apart is the amount of fieldwork behind it. Since 2013 head winemaker Martín Kaiser has run a terroir research programme that has dug and studied more than one thousand three hundred and fifty soil pits and carried out over seven hundred micro-vinifications from different plots, seeking to understand how altitude and the alluvial cones that came down from the Andes over six million years ago shape the wines.
