El Cuvée Justin 2019 es un vino blanco elaborado por la bodega Domaine Maurice Schoech, ubicada en el pueblo de Ammerschwihr, dentro de la región de Alsacia, Francia. Producido en la añada 2019, está elaborado exclusivamente con uvas Pinot gris bajo la AOC Alsace.

La finca, gestionada actualmente por Jean-Léon y Sébastien Schoech, posee una historia que se remonta a 1650 y cuenta con 11 hectáreas de viñedo, de las cuales el 70% se encuentran en laderas privilegiadas, incluyendo 4 hectáreas en zonas Grand Cru como Kaefferkopf, Mambourg y Rangen de Thann. La producción se realiza con viticultura ecológica certificada desde 2014. Para esta cuvée, las parcelas se sitúan en una colina sobre suelos de arena granítica y gneis, con una transición hacia arcilla calcárea. La vinificación sigue los métodos tradicionales de la región de Alsacia.

A generous and enticing dry pinot gris with aromas of ripe mirabelle, cooked pear and a hint of fine patisserie. On the palate these notes are augmented by caramel, candied citrus peel and a hint of tobacco leaf, but the whole composition remains calm and restrained. Long, silky finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

The Schoechs have been in the vineyards of Ammerschwihr since 1650, but the domaine as it exists today is recent: it was set up in 1971 on the edge of the village. That is more than three centuries of growing grapes before bottling under their own name. The house keeps Maurice's name and is run by his sons, Jean-Léon and Sébastien.

The vineyard is spread across several grand crus of the area —Kaefferkopf, Schlossberg, Furstentum and Mambourg— and they also hold a small parcel in the Rangen, the volcanic grand cru of Thann. That spread gives an uncommon mix of soils: limestone-marl predominates, but there is granite, sandstone and the volcanic rock of the Rangen, with vines between ten and fifty years old.

They farmed organically long before certifying; the Ecocert seal came in 2014, with some biodynamic practices. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations —except for the Côtes d'Ammerschwihr and the Pinot Auxerrois— and everything in stainless steel.
