Clos du Roi 2019 | Château de Chamirey | Mercurey 1er Cru
The "Clos du Roi" 2019 by Château de Chamirey is a Mercurey 1er cru wine from a vineyard with an area of just over 3 hectares. Facing south/southwest, this terroir owes its uniqueness to these four contiguous plots, made up of vineyards planted in 1970 and 2002. The dark brown soil is made up in particular of limestone.
Harvested and then manually selected, the grapes are completely destemmed. Vinification in vats. Cold maceration for 4 to 6 days. Fermentation accompanied by pigeages, then post-fermentative maceration. During devatting, the flor wine and the press wine are separated, even for aging for 16 months in oak barrels (30% new) and after 2 months in stainless steel tanks.
PARKER: 92
Layered and enveloping, the 2019 Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Roi is a medium to full-bodied, velvety and vibrant wine evocative of sweet berry fruit, plums, orange rind and dried flowers. This is an especially charming Clos du Roi that will offer a broad drinking window.
