Valdespino is a historic sherry house in Jerez and owner of the Macharnudo vineyard. Macharnudo Alto is its highest part, at 135 metres above sea level, planted on albariza soils, a white chalky limestone. This is 100% Palomino Fino vinified unfortified as a dry table white under IGP Cádiz.

Night harvest preserves freshness and natural acidity in the Andalusian heat. Fermentation takes place in ex-sherry barrels, followed by six months on fine lees for creaminess and breadth.

Learn more about Valdespino

Valdespino traces its origin to 1264, when tradition holds that a knight of that name, one of the twenty-four who rode with Alfonso X at the taking of Jerez, received land as a reward. Its earliest documented records date from the fourteenth century. Since 1999 it has belonged to the Estévez family, who put Eduardo Ojeda in charge of the winemaking.

Its vineyard is Macharnudo, one of the great albariza sites of Jerez, and its highest part, Macharnudo Alto, gives its best-known wines.

Fino Inocente comes from that vineyard and breaks the rule: it ferments in cask and its solera has ten criaderas, where a fino usually has three.

Viña Macharnudo Alto is Palomino Fino from that same height, at 135 metres, made as an unfortified white under IGP Cádiz: night harvest, fermentation in former sherry casks and six months on fine lees.
