Domaine Fumey-Chatelain

Raphaël and Adeline Fumey started in the mid-1980s with half a hectare of vines outside Arbois. They sold the fruit.

They became winemakers because of a frost. In 1991 the cold ravaged the Jura and left them a crop too small to sell and too good to throw away, so they vinified it themselves. That was their first wine. Their own cellar did not come until 1999, in Montigny-lès-Arsures.

Today it is seventeen hectares spread across more than twenty plots, farmed without synthetic chemicals and in conversion to organic.

Since 2020 their son Marin has been there too, back in Montigny after several years making wine in the southern hemisphere.

Planted with the local Jura varieties — savagnin, trousseau, ploussard — plus chardonnay and pinot noir.
