Bodegas Puelles

Bodegas Puelles is in Ábalos, on Camino de los Molinos, next to a 17th-century mill that the family bought from the town council in 1844. The Puelles have lived in the village for generations, and the brothers of the current generation turned the mill estate into a winery.

The winery is organised in three lines: Puelles, with young red, crianza, reserva, gran reserva and white; Zenus, from the oldest vines in the upper part of Ábalos and only in the best vintages; and Molino de Puelles, an estate Tempranillo grown organically.

Molino de Puelles comes from the El Molino estate, at 620 metres, with a vineyard planted in 1999 on clay-limestone soil and 14 months in new barrels. Zenus comes from the San Prudencio and La Cañada plots, at 560-590 metres, with vines over 45 years old and 18 months in new barrels.
