Raphaël Midoir, fifth generation in Chémery (Loir-et-Cher), HVE certified with part of the estate in organic conversion. 3-hectare parcel of Gamay on clay-limestone soils with flint. Vines around 40 years old. Named in tribute to Raphaël's grandfather Jean, a devoted Gamay lover.

Traditional vinification with bâtonnage. No sulfites added at any stage. Aged in temperature-controlled stainless steel.

Este vino es una creación de la bodega Raphaël Midoir, situada en Chémery (Loir-et-Cher), Francia, de la añada 2023. Pertenece a la denominación Touraine, dentro de la región de Loira.

El proyecto es dirigido por Raphaël Midoir, quinta generación de viticultores en la zona. La bodega cuenta con certificación HVE y una parte de su viñedo está en proceso de conversión a agricultura ecológica. La uva de esta botella es Gamay, proveniente de una parcela específica de 3 hectáreas con suelos arcillo-calcáreos enriquecidos con sílex. Las cepas tienen una antigüedad aproximada de 40 años. El nombre del vino, Jean, rinde homenaje al abuelo del productor, quien era un admirador declarado de esta variedad.

En cuanto a la elaboración, se opta por una vinificación tradicional que incluye la técnica de bâtonnage. El vino se cría en depósitos de acero inoxidable bajo control de temperatura. Un punto distintivo de este lote es que no se han añadido sulfitos en ninguna fase del proceso, situándolo en el ámbito de la producción natural. Se clasifica como un vino tinto.

El carácter de esta edición responde a una elaboración limpia y respetuosa, priorizando la expresión de la cepa Gamay en un entorno de suelo arcillo-calcáreo sobre sílex, sin intervenciones sulfurosas y con una crianza en acero inoxidable.

The house is in Chémery, in Loir-et-Cher, near Romorantin and in the heart of the Sologne wine country. Raphaël Midoir is the fifth generation and took over from his father in 1997.

There are thirty hectares, twenty-one of white and nine of red, on clay subsoil and siliceous soil with flint, with vines ranging from five to fifty years. Sauvignon accounts for 70% of the plantings; the rest is split between Chenin, Côt, Chardonnay and Gamay.

They bottle under Touraine, Touraine-Oisly, Crémant de Loire and IGP Val de Loire. The estate holds High Environmental Value certification, with four hectares certified organic and another four in conversion.

The one red the house has given a name of its own is a Gamay, and it is called Jean after Raphaël's grandfather, who was devoted to the variety. It comes from a three-hectare plot of vines around forty years old and is bottled with no sulphur added at any stage. Which is something, in a house where seven vines out of ten are Sauvignon.
