Vinyes Mortitx

Vinyes Mortitx began in 2001, when some 30 partners planted vines on an orchard plot of the Mortitx possessió, in Escorca, in the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today there are 50 partners. The name of the estate already appears in Mallorca's Llibre del Repartiment, around 1232, after the conquest by James I.

The vineyards lie at about 400 metres, on mountainside clay-limestone soils. Alongside the native varieties — Giró Ros, Callet and Gorgollassa — they grow Chardonnay, Syrah, Merlot, Monastrell and Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvesting is by hand.

Gorgollassa Callet 2023 comes from the Els Cirerers plot: a young wine, without barrel ageing, at 12% abv and 3,500 bottles. Giró Ros 2023 is 100% of a native red variety of Mallorca, with vines between 400 and 500 metres on limestone mountain soils.

The range also includes Mortitx Blanc and Negre, Flaires, Racó Fred, Rodal Pla, L'Ú, Monjoia and the sweet Dolç de Gel.
