Domaine Christian Bellang et Fils has been cultivating vines in Meursault since at least 1789, with Christophe Bellang joining his father Christian in 1995 to manage the estate. This Vieilles Vignes cuvée is drawn from inherited parcels in Savigny-lès-Beaune where vines average around 40 years old. The soils are clay-limestone enriched with reddish ferruginous clay — the terres rouges characteristic of Savigny's northern slopes — on Bathonian limestone. 100% Pinot Noir.

Lutte raisonnée viticulture with indigenous yeasts. Élevage combines 12 months in oak barrel followed by 6 months in vat for balance and integration. Around 1,200 bottles produced per vintage.

Learn more about Domaine Christian Bellang et Fils

The family goes back to 1789 and is based in Meursault.

Christian Bellang took over from his parents in 1974. The Meursault vines came from the family; the Savigny-lès-Beaune parcels he inherited from his father-in-law. In Burgundy vineyards move as much by marriage as by purchase, and this estate is a clear example.

In 1995 his son Christophe joined and together they expanded with parcels in Meursault, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Chorey-lès-Beaune and Beaune.

Christophe runs it today. Nine hectares split almost evenly between red and white, with vines averaging thirty years. Splitting an estate evenly between the two colours is not the usual thing: most Burgundy domaines lean clearly towards one.
