Bodega Aleanna

We let you know when a new wine arrives or drops in price.

The winery's name fuses those of its two partners: Alejandro and Adrianna. It was founded in 2007 by Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil, and the combination of backgrounds is an unusual one: she is a historian —a Berkeley graduate with a doctorate from Balliol College, Oxford— and the youngest daughter of Nicolás Catena Zapata; he is a soil engineer and agronomist, and has been Catena Zapata's head winemaker since 2002.

The label they are known by, El Enemigo, is no accident either: it refers to the internal battles one fights with oneself in order to improve. From it come two ranges, El Enemigo and Gran Enemigo, made from high-altitude parcels in Gualtallary, Agrelo, El Cepillo and Los Chacayes.

The approach in the cellar is minimal intervention: indigenous yeasts and the fewest possible decisions between grape and bottle.
