Marcel Cabelier

It is not a domaine: Marcel Cabelier is the brand of a Jura négociant that makes wine from growers across the whole département, some seventy of them.

Behind it is the Maison du Vigneron, in Crançot, a merchant house set up in 1986 and today part of Grands Chais de France.

The «39» in the wine's name is the number of the Jura département.

La Côte 39 brings the two styles of white Jura together in one bottle: savagnin aged three or four years in barrel under a veil of yeast — sous voile — which is the oxidative ageing, and chardonnay aged in fully topped-up barrels — ouillé — which keeps it lively. They are blended at the end. It is a dry wine at 13.5%.
