De La Riva
We let you know when a new wine arrives or drops in price.
This brand spent years sitting in a drawer. Manuel Antonio de la Riva y Pomar (1838-1909) founded the house in the mid-nineteenth century, buying from a relative a bodega that already existed in 1776. He came to hold 53 hectares in the Macharnudo pago — with plots such as La Riva, Sabel and Los Arcos — and made a name on the strength of his old soleras.
The house stayed with his descendants until Pedro Domecq bought it in the early seventies. Later, when Pernod Ricard took over Allied-Domecq in 2005, the brand was shelved.
Willy Pérez and Ramiro Ibáñez managed to buy it a few years later and started the project in 2017. They work with old soleras and single-pago wines, and they make two manzanillas: one from Miraflores Baja and another from Balbaína Alta.
The Manzanilla Fina Miraflores Baja comes from a low albariza plot right by the Guadalquivir estuary, where Atlantic humidity is at its highest and the veil of flor develops strongly. It is 100% Palomino Fino with full biological ageing under flor.
The 2025 saca is drawn en rama straight from the solera and bottled with minimal intervention, unfiltered or with only a very light filtration.
