Domaine Baud Père et Fils

The story begins in 1742, when Jean-François Baud settled as a winegrower in Le Vernois. Nine generations on, the family is still there.

The decisive moment, though, is 1950. René Baud, the seventh generation, had to rebuild a vineyard that phylloxera and the two world wars had left in pieces. He started again with four hectares.

In 1978 the eighth generation, Jean-Michel and Alain, set up the Gaec Baud Père & Fils.

Today there are twenty-two hectares across three appellations — Côtes du Jura, Château-Chalon and L'Étoile — and six counting Crémant du Jura, Macvin and the eaux-de-vie. The ninth generation is at the helm.
