Domaine Eric Rominger

The estate is in Westhalten, at the foot of the Zinnkoepflé grand cru, which peaks at 430 metres, in the heart of the Vallée Noble, south of Colmar.

The Vosges massif acts as a screen here. The Grand Ballon and the Petit Ballon hold back the prevailing winds and the weather fronts, so the area gets a great deal of sun and very little rain: the setting is dry, near arid for what one expects of Alsace.

Claudine Rominger took on the estate and expanded it with her husband, Éric, in 1984. Éric died in 2014 and she has run it alone since. The name on the label is his.

They have farmed biodynamically since 2000 and obtained Demeter certification in 2012.
