Fontanabianca's Barbaresco DOCG is crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grown on approximately 30-year-old vines spread across three parcels in the Neive commune, where calcareous clay-limestone soils of both Tortonian and Helvetian origin impart a compelling balance of floral elegance and structured depth. The interplay of these two distinct geological strata — blue-grey Tortonian marl and white Helvetian calcareous marl — gives the wine its characteristic combination of aromatic finesse and firm tannic backbone, hallmarks of traditional Barbaresco at its most expressive.

Founded in 1969 by Franco Pola in the Bordini hamlet of Neive, Fontanabianca is today guided by Aldo Pola and his winemaker son Matteo, who bring both heritage and technical precision to the estate's ~14 hectares. The 2018 was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and aged for 20–22 months in a combination of large oak botti and barriques, a warm and dry growing season lending the wine notable richness and concentration. The results have drawn strong critical acclaim: 93 points from Wine Advocate (Monica Larner), 92 points from James Suckling, and 92 points from Jeb Dunnuck.
