Domaine Liravel sits within Tavel, the only AOC in France dedicated exclusively to rosé, located in the Gard department directly across the Rhône from Châteauneuf-du-Pape and widely recognised as the country’s greatest rosé appellation. The vineyard’s exceptional terroir combines galets roulés — the characteristic rolled pudding stones of the southern Rhône — with marl and clay, a foundation that drives both power and freshness. The wine is crafted from a complex six-variety blend of 34% Grenache Noir, 18% Mourvèdre, 18% Syrah, 12% Grenache Blanc, 12% Cinsault and 6% Picpoul, harvested entirely by hand.

El Tavel 2022 de Domaine Liravel (Dauvergne et Ranvier) procede de Tavel, en el departamento del Gard, al sur del Ródano, Francia. Esta denominación es singular por ser la única AOC francesa dedicada exclusivamente a vinos rosados, situándose frente a Châteauneuf-du-Pape. El perfil de esta añada responde a un terruño singular que combina cantos rodados, conocidos como galets roulés por su capacidad para retener calor y aportar potencia, junto a marga y arcilla.

La elaboración parte de una cosecha manual y un ensamblaje complejo de seis variedades. La composición del vino incluye un 34% de Garnacha Negra, 18% de Mourvèdre, 18% de Syrah, 12% de Garnacha Blanca, 12% de Cinsault y un 6% de Picpoul. Respecto a la evolución del vino en bodega, se indica una crianza que se extiende entre tres y cinco años en botella antes de su consumo, un periodo que sugiere un desarrollo notable para un rosado.

François Dauvergne and Jean-François Ranvier set up their merchant house in 2004, in the Rhône. In 2013 they went from buying wine to making it: they took over Domaine Liravel, a ten-hectare family property spread across ten plots in Tavel and three in Lirac.

Since 2020 they have worked at l'Assemblière, the winery they built in Tavel. The domaine has been certified organic since 2021.

Tavel is in the Gard, across from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and it is the only appellation in the Rhône given over entirely to rosé.

The terroir brings together the galets roulés — the rolled stones that hold the heat — with marl and clay. The wine is a blend of six varieties: 34% grenache noir, 18% mourvèdre, 18% syrah, 12% grenache blanc, 12% cinsault and 6% picpoul, all picked by hand.
