Rully 2022 Gaudoirs | Jean Marc Pillot | Burgundy

Jean-Marc Pillot represents the fourth generation of his family in Chassagne-Montrachet, having taken over the 15-hectare estate in 1991 and now working alongside his son Antonin, the fifth generation, who joined in 2019. The Rully comes from a parcel farmed by personal arrangement with grower friends, bottled under the domaine label — a long-standing sourcing practice at Pillot. Les Gaudoirs is a village lieu-dit in the southern, higher-altitude, cooler sector of Rully, planted on extraordinarily stony soils over a limestone plateau; that stoniness delivers more precision and mineral intensity than the softer La Chaume, and the roughly thirty-year-old Chardonnay vines have been farmed under organic conversion since 2021, with full certification achieved with the 2024 vintage.

Whole bunches are pressed pneumatically, and the wine is aged for approximately twelve months on fine lees in barrel with around 20% new oak, followed by six months in stainless steel before bottling unfined and unfiltered.
