Château Lafleur du Roy

Yvon and Pâquerette Dubost worked in vine nurseries. In 1958 they created their own estate in Pomerol.

There are four hectares at sixty metres of altitude, facing southwest, with vines of forty to forty-five years. Laurent Dubost runs it today.

The soil is sand and gravel with crasse de fer, the iron crust that marks out Pomerol. The vineyard is planted with 85% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon.

Each plot is managed separately. It is picked by hand, destemmed and given a cold maceration; fermentation runs on native yeasts and extraction comes from pump-overs and rackings. It ages fifteen to eighteen months in barrel: a third new, a third from one previous vintage and a third from two.
