Château de Hauterive

The name comes from «Haut de Vire», the high ground of Vire.

The Filhol family has been on the estate since 1855. Gilles and Dominique are the third generation.

They are in Vire-sur-Lot, the commune that makes the most wine in the Cahors appellation. There are 21 hectares on the second terrace of the Lot valley, south-facing and farmed under lutte raisonnée, with no preventive chemical treatments.

Le H comes from vines around twenty-five years old on clay-siliceous and limestone soils, with 70% malbec and 30% merlot.

It ages entirely in stainless steel tank, with no time in oak at any point.
