Château Tertre du Boilon
We let you know when a new wine arrives or drops in price.
Arnaud Ovide set up in 2001 on the land of Saint-Aubin-de-Blaye and bought plot after plot until he had the 36 hectares he works today. The holding is registered as Ovide et Fils.
They are some sixty kilometres north of Bordeaux, on the right bank of the estuary, at the northern edge of the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.
Two labels come out of the house: Château Vieux Planty and this Tertre du Boilon, its second wine. They farm under HVE3 certification and are converting to organic production.
Tertre du Boilon comes from twenty-five-year-old vines planted at 5,000 per hectare on clay-gravel soils. It macerates twenty days under temperature control and ages six to eight months in French oak.
