Domaine Coursodon

The Coursodons have worked the granite slopes of Mauves since the middle of the nineteenth century. The estate was created by Antonin Coursodon and his father, Jean Auguste.

One detail changes how the label reads: Jérôme's grandfather was among those who organised the creation of the Saint-Joseph appellation in the 1950s. The family did not merely work inside an appellation, it helped bring one into being.

When Saint-Joseph was born, in 1956, it was six communes: Mauves, Glun, Tournon, Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, Vion and Lemps. All of them steep slopes, directly opposite Hermitage across the Rhône and on the same granite. Mauves sits in that original core.

Jérôme Coursodon, the fifth generation, has run the sixteen hectares since 1998, with his father Pierre alongside. The house is above all a red wine producer.

Their white, Le Paradis Saint Pierre, is 90% marsanne and 10% roussanne, on pure granite.
