Château Suduiraut

The property was born of a marriage: that of Nicole d'Allard and Léonard de Suduiraut, in 1580. The château seen today was built by the family in the seventeenth century, and for the gardens they commissioned Le Nôtre, the gardener to Louis XIV who laid out those of Versailles. They are still there and can be visited.

It stands in Preignac, and its vines border those of Yquem.

In the 1855 classification it entered as a Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes. In 1992 it was bought by AXA Millésimes, which set about bringing the estate up to date.

Ninety hectares of vineyard, planted with 80% sémillon and 20% sauvignon blanc.
