Domaine J. Denuzière

We let you know when a new wine arrives or drops in price.

The house did not begin by making wine but by moving it. In 1876 Joanny Paret started delivering Condrieu wines by cart around the neighbouring villages.

The business passed to his son Joseph and, in the 1940s, to Pierre Denuzière. With him the Paret wines became Denuzière wines: the surname on the label changed halfway through.

After a sale in the early 2000s the house turned, ceasing to be chiefly a merchant and becoming a producer: from négociant to domaine.

It works the northern Rhône appellations — Cornas, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Saint-Péray and Crozes-Hermitage — nearly all of them steep-slope country.

Its Cornas comes from a parcel of one hectare and twenty ares in the lieu-dit En Sauman, on the granite terraces known there as chaillées, on a sharp incline. One hundred per cent syrah.
